Kurt Schwitters – The MerzBarn – #Details 14-15-16-17
The plaster surface at one point turns out, breaking the plane and reaching out to the viewer. A triangular shaped wooden device is embedded point first, at right angles to the surface and painted black. a trapezoid shaped object painted yellow is held at a distance by three rusted black bars. A fragment of picture frame forms a crevice where small found objects have been placed. The area above this oval frame is smooth in texture, highlighted by swirling curves extending to the underside of the top ridge. This area is painted dark green. Below the frame an ochre tinted band of plaster creates a wave.
