Web of Spider – Green Metal Jacket
Release Date: December 07, 2015
” The latest release from Whitey Kirst’s ‘Web Of Spider’ entitled ‘Green Metal Jacket’ is guaranteed to pulverize your senses. Most famous for his guitar work with Iggy Pop, the Canadian born Kirst delivers his unique brand of six string magic on tracks like “Hot Rod Daddy,” “So Good,” “A Touch of Evil,” and “Dig In.” Recorded in Calgary Alberta Canada and Hollywood California, the track “It Ain’t Nothing” is one of the last known recordings featuring Alice In Chains bassist Mike Starr. Raw and aggressive rock & roll, Green Metal Jacket is a throwback to the go-for-throat sound of the 70’s without sounding dated.”
Best known as lead guitarist with Iggy Pop throughout the 90’s and into the new millennium, Whitey Kirst has contributed as both co-writer and guitarist to numerous works including Iggy Pop’s “Beat ‘Em Up”, “Ave B”, “Nuaghty L’il Doggie” and “Skull Ring” albums, Alice Cooper’s “Along Came A Spider”, Marilyn Manson’s “High End of Low”, Jeordie White’s “Goon Moon” and cover of “Rip Your Clothes Off” is featured on a compilation tribute to Junior Kimbrough on the Fat Possum label.
Kirst is also featured in several live dvd’s, including Iggy Pop’s” Kiss My Bood”, and “Live at the Ave B”. Whitey’s rock ‘n roll albums include performances by musicians such as Kenny Brown (R.L. Burnside), Richie Ramone (Ramones), Phil ‘Philthy Animal’ Taylor (Motorhead), Tommy Clufetos (Ozzy Ozbourne), and Mike Starr (AIC). His musical prowess is experienced both live and on recordings, “I have seen the square toe-d boot of rock and roll headed straight for your ass… And his name is Whitey Kirst “, Stew Herrera – KLOS Los Angeles. His music has appeared in both Film and Televison, definately one of the coolest guitarists within rock today. ” Whitey sings as he plays guitar, with that kind of energy that never excludes emotion. His music evokes, invokes and convokes all together, among others, Iggy (understandable) Ozzy, John Lydon, The Voodoo chile, the cat in rut, the dog in heat, the woman in every port, the three little porks in every man, the Christ (Krist) on cross…every one of us, simply”, Eric Fouillaret – Conservatoire de Paris.
